Paz Cantina Phoenix

This Venue has revived downtown for people like myself who grew up in the area.Since the reopening of Paz Cantina, I've been curious to see what it would be like. Joanna is still the muscle in the kitchen and seems to be flexing all over downtown. In an area where Aaron Chamberlin(Phx Public Market, Tacos Chelo) , Doug Robson(Gallo Blanco, Otro Cafe) and Michael Babcock(Welcome Diner) have reigned supreme, and with the closing of DeSoto Market, Paz Cantina has dominated the area by sheer size. Come visit Nubia in the Café for delicious coffee. You can also either have a a sit down dinner or watch a game on the patio or one of the two bars while enjoying Joanna's creations....or you can go in and enjoy free live music whilst being served your adult libations via Venus and Lauren. Being a Latino man who loves living and experiencing his culture and who grew up in the area when it was dominantly hispanic neighborhoods as well as an impoverished area, I am extremely pleased to have a place like Paz Cantina in the hood. I can't say enough about how elated I am to have a place where I can experience food, music and the culture I grew up loving and taking pride in. It's beautiful to see so many people enjoying what we grew up in. When you visit, you're gonna see Alan, the owner, in the background running around taking care of all the minute details to ensure everyone has a memorable experience. Side Note: If not for Pete Garcia's (whom I loved and admired) failed Mercado, none of this would've been possible.
